I have recently heard about the authors of a book, Urban Homesteading 
, due to be released this month, and their struggle with the family who has attempted to trademark the term "Urban Homestead" and "Urban Homesteading." The authors and their publishing company are being threatened with an injunction if they go forward with the release of their book.This is a book that I plan on ordering right now! To me, being an urban homesteader is about producing what I need by my own hand when possible, in order to increase my family's healthy self-reliance and reduce our addiction to unnecessary consumerism. In the end, the hope is to be more connected with my community and my environment, so it is unfortunate that the very term Urban Homestead is creating such discord in the very community that it seeks to promote.
